April 1st, 2020

Hello friends,

We have all been in very uncertain times this year and I hope everyone is well and taking care of themselves.  I have been overthinking as usual in a restless state of mind; waking up through out the night trying to find my sense of self through all of the madness.  We will get through this by staying safe and maintaining proper direction from qualified health officials.  A bright future will soon come where we can celebrate in each others embrace once again.  We have learned quite a lot about this system and how it operates...  It is time to use this knowledge and wisdom to transform it into something that works for everyone.

I have been using this time to write, rewrite, and write some more.  I'm also trying to help my fellow musicians by taking some very valuable piano and vocal lessons and brushing up my game.  It has been a rough time since returning to New Orleans from Los Angeles in September of 2018.  Canceled tours and extending dates to head back west have been annoying but beneficial.  Sometimes you just need to roll with the tide and let the moon do it's thing.

On March 20th I posted a fresh EP of six songs.  They are all songs from my "Lullabies to the Ocean" EP I put out in 2017 that didn't quite make the cut.  You can find them on my bandcamp page.  I decided to call it "Lullabies to the Moon" as it seemed appropriate.  These songs were recorded in my Los Angeles apartment on a Tascam 388 8 track reel to reel tape recorder with limited outboard gear.  All of my gear has been in storage in Los Angeles so I have not been recording much other than demos on garageband.  After stockpiling new songs, I am ready for the studio.  More news to come!

Stay safe my friends,

JR
